(My apologies in advance for the long post.)
Congratulations again to A/PO DeBoer. Following your lead on Sunday in clearing the way for the firefighters procession as they were less than a hundred yards away, your leadership traits & values stood for themselves. All it took was your nod of confidence from you to keep me going ahead.
Just wanted to share a quote regarding what we do:
"If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well."
Not that anyone does, but if any member feels what we do is meaningless, consider this: When do you see other auxiliaries performing similar duties as we've been trusted to? Not often. We're out there assisting the movement of traffic - in every single car, there is a life, and a person/family with a story to tell. Your helping their story continue. That's all anyone could ask for. Fidelis Ad Mortem.

REALLY? YOU HAVE AN EXCUSE? REALLY? BE ASHAMED! TURN YOUR STUFF IN.
OH YEAH EXCUSES, EXCUSES
10-02-2012 9:45:52 AM EST
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THE EXCUSES. P.O. Green is right, "a little less talk and a lot more action."- TOBY KEITH 1. “The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making any excuses, that's the day you start to the top.” 2.“It is easy to dodge our responsibilities, but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities.” 3.“Don't make excuses. Make things happen. Make changes. Then make history.”
P.O. GREEN RE: MEETING
10-02-2012 9:12:25 AM EST
REMINDER: TOMORROW NIGHT, 1930hrs, WE ARE HAVING OUR QUARTERLY GENERAL BODY MEETING OF ALL MEMBERS. THAT IS ALL MEMBERS!!! THAT MEANS EVERYONE. IF YOU ARE NOT THERE, DROP OFF YOUR SHIELD AND ID TODAY. I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE'S FACE, SO LOOKING AT YOU PICTURES IS JUST FINE. FAILURE TO ATTEND THIS MEETING WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION OF PATROL PRIVALEGES AND BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE ADMIN WORK FOR YOU, YOU WILL BE TERMINATED FROM THE PROGRAM. I AM TIRED OF THE EXCUSES. YOU SIGNED UP FOR THIS. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO ATTEND CERTAIN TRAINING AND PERFORM A MINIMUM OF 12 HOURS A MONTH. IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT, NO PROBLEM, YOU CAN'T BE A PART OF THIS PROGRAM. THESE ARE THE RULES. I WANT TO PLAY BASKETBALL FOR THE KNICKS BUT THE REALITY IS, I CAN'T BECAUSE OF MY SIZE. THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT GOES. CAN'T GET MAD. JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. SAME THING WITH THIS PROGRAM. THIS IS NOT A GAME WHERE YOU GET TO PLAY COP. YOU ARE EITHER ONE OR YOUR NOT. I HEAR A LOT OF TALK OUT OF SOME OF YOU BUT I DON'T SEE ANY ACTION. POSTING IS NOT ACTION. GETTING IN, GOING ON PATROL AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE IS ACTION. THAT'S WHAT COPS DO. EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, JUST DOESN'T CUT IT. IF YOU FIND YOURSELF MAKING EXCUSES EVERYTIME THERE IS A DETAIL, QUIT. YOUR HEART SIMPLY ISN'T WITH US. WE HAVE A TON OF MEMBERS THAT HAVE LIFE CHANGING THINGS GOING ON BUT THEY MAINTAIN THE RIGHT ATTITUDE AND COME IN. THEY HAVE EXCUSES BUT DO NOT USE THEM. THEY ARE NOT SELFISH, THEY CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEIR HEARTS PUMP CTTF THROUGH THEIR VEINS. THAT'S WHAT WE WANT HERE. EXCUSES? TAKE THEM TO ANOTHER COMMAND. IT HAS BEEN SAID, THIS MEETING WAS ANNOUNCED OVER A MONTH AGO. PLENTY OF TIME TO CHANGE PLANS. NO EXCUSES. RIDICULOUS! GOD HELP ANY OF YOU THAT ARE GIVING ME EXCUSES AND 1. DO NOT HAND IN YOUR SHIELDS AND ID'S AND 2. ARE LYING TO ME. IF I FIND OUT THAT YOU HAVE LIED, I WILL MAKE SURE THAT THIS PROGRAM WILL NEVER MAKE IT ON YOUR RESUME. THAT GOES FOR FRIDAY NIGHT'S INCIDENT AS WELL. LIE ABOUT THAT, I WILL OWN THOSE SHIELDS. THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE. TELL THE TRUTH BECAUSE I GUARANTEE YOU THAT IF I AM ASKING YOU A QUESTION, I ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER. I AM JUST SEEING IF YOU ARE FULL OF IT OR NOT. DON'T LIE TO ME!!! PLAYTIME IS OVER. WELCOME TO THE CTTF BOOT CAMP!!!

Ruben, We are currently finishing up the last few people for the October class that will probably start next week. We are going to start another class in 2013. Those investigations will be starting next week. The 2013 class is going to be a large one. We have a lot of names that didn't make the cut this time but are set to go for the next one. You can definately get in if you stop by the CTTF base soon and start the paperwork. Stop in, Mon-Fri 1400x2200. We will not be around today. Looking forward to meeting you.

This message is to any members of a certain lower Manhattan command that have turned in their transfers to CTTF: I would like you to attempt to make the meeting on Wednesday. Your transfers are in the final stages and should be coming down soon. You might want to come and witness the CTTF transformation at the Meeting. 1930, Wednesday night.

A/PO Deboer, attitude is everything. When you possess the right attitude and carry yourself accordingly, you lead the way. That's a leader. That is what makes you stand out. At the tunnel to towers detail, you were visibly taken back and proud at the same time. You are a Marine. You are a member of the NYPD. You are the CTTF! Heart and soul, all in! That's how we roll! Hoorah, oooorah, and all that jazz!
10-01-2012 11:51:27 PM EST
Congratulations A/PO De Boer on being named Member of the Month for the CTTF Auxiliary Unit. We can all learn a lot from you.

Hello, I would like to know if I can apply to the CTTF Auxiliary section, because I applied with the 34th Precinct Auxiliary unit abut I have not recieved any messages from them since the date of submitted application almost 2 months ago, I think that they are not recruiting since they have a small unit and I am seeing that your unit is already conducting fingerprinting and class date for recruits. Is there a chance for me to join CTTF Auxiliary in time for the upcoming recruiting class or for the next class? I will deeply appreciate any responses from any Auxiliary personnel, since it will be a pleasure to work with people with similar goals. You are welcome to E-Mail me if you have any information. Thank you very much and may God bless the CTTF

P.O. GREEN SEPTEMBER'S MEMBER OF THE MONTH
10-01-2012 9:59:20 PM EST
The Member of the Month award for the month of September is A/PO Timothy Deboer. Tim has shown nothing but MOTIVATION, DEDICATION, AND PRIDE. This was instilled in him when served this country with the United States Marines. He has carried his military experiences over to the NYPD. He is responsible for the leadership link on this site. He represents this unit with a very professional look, personality and drive. HE IS THE CTTF. HE SETS THE STANDARD. HE IS YOUR MEMBER OF THE MONTH. CONGRATS A/PO TIMOTHY DEBOER AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THIS COUNTRY AND THIS CITY.

LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK LEAD TO SUCCESS!!! That is the bottom line. My job is to enforce the rules. Your job is to follow the rules. Why is Friday night such a big deal? Forget the blatant disregard for the procedures. Forget the embarassment. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OUR MEMBERS!!! THE SAFE OPERATION OF OUR VEHICLES KEEPS OUR MEMBERS, MY TEAM,SAFE!!! Do we get it? SELF CONTROL!!! YOU MUST HAVE SELF CONTROL. PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING. RUNNING RED LIGHTS, YELLING AT PEDESTRIANS OR EACHOTHER, ACTING UNPROFESSIONAL, IT'S JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE. Whether it went down the way it was told to me or not, it was perceived that way. Every action gets a reaction!!! Enough said. WEDNESDAY NIGHT IS THE MEETING. THERE ARE 60 MEMBERS NOW ASSIGNED TO THIS COMMAND. 20 RECRUITS AND A FEW TRANSFERS AWAITING TRANSFER. YOU ARE ALL INVITED TO SEE WHERE THIS COMMAND IS HEADING!!! BE THERE.
10-01-2012 6:21:54 PM EST
Also. what happened friday is now in the past, we cant take it back. So its time we all step up. we have to prove we are the best, because its now being questioned. So now more then ever, the second you step out in that uniform...show everyone its an honor and a priviledge to be part of the cttf auxiliary program. when we have our meeting on wednesday we will get yelled at. but we will get yelled at as a team. no pointing fingers. no rolling eyes. we are a family! good or bad. hooorah.

Hello ladies and gents! Im just gonna give my .02 cents! :) Ive been following this units message board since january, its amazing to see a volunteer pd unit as dedicated as this one, its also amazing two see two aux coordinator that put so much work into this unit, honestly you do not have to be in the unit to notice how much work they put in..its also disapointing how ppl sign up to volunteer just to have the shield and id but then dont wanna show up and participate they just in the program to show off their badge to fams and friend, i did JROTC back in hs and it was a honor to put on that navy uniform and participate in helping out my community amd represent the greatest armed forces in the world. Lately i have been very eager to call the aux office to sign up for the next class, but i have a full time EMT job and i have two kids and a wife so i honestly dont know how i would be able to jug my schedule around..if anyone is willing to share some advice ill appreciate it alot, it would be a honor to put on the uniform and help out my community once again!

Since we are the Citywide TRAFFIC TASK FORCE, we are tasked with making sure our city streets are kept clean.

LA Officials Say 'Carmageddon II' Was a Success
CHRISTOPHER WEBERLOS ANGELES (AP) — Traffic was flowing again on the city's busiest freeway following a weekend closure that was hailed a success by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa after it didn't result in the "Carmageddon" of epic traffic jams.Bridgework that forced the closure of Interstate 405 was completed and lanes of the freeway through the Sepulveda Pass began reopening Sunday night, hours ahead of a planned reopening for the Monday morning commute. The first drivers allowed back on the roadway cheered and honked their car horns as news cameras rolled.A similar closure occurred last year to demolish portions of the half-century-old Mulholland Drive bridge to allow construction of an additional freeway lane. The south side of the freeway was removed last year, and the north-side lanes stayed standing until the south side was rebuilt.Like last year, city residents heeded months of warnings to stay off the road and weekend traffic was unusually light.Villaraigosa said his hope for a "Carmaheaven" came true and he thanked drivers for their cooperation."The real stars of this sequel were the motorists who took advantage of a car-free weekend and stayed off the road," he said.Like Villaraigosa, some drivers couldn't resist comparing the scenario to a movie."It's like that movie 'Vanilla Sky,' ... where Times Square is empty," Sterling Gates told KABC-TV. "It's kind of like that. We're known for our traffic, and it's just nothing."The closed, 10-mile section of the 405 carries about 500,000 motorists each day on a typical weekend, according to the Los Angeles Times. California Department of Transportation officials said that in order for "Carmageddon II" to be a success, at least two-thirds of those drivers need to stay off the road. The rare sight of a carless freeway attracted many onlookers, including seven people who were cited for sneaking onto the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said.Last year, three people slipped onto the freeway at the crack of dawn and snapped photos of themselves enjoying a gourmet meal on an eerily empty freeway. Just saying, if I was involved with the Friday night incident(s), I would probably make sure that my APBA dues were paid in full and that my membership was valid. Just saying. The coordinators are not so happy. In fact, I am scared. Btw, APO Karen Thomas is our delegate.

I received the same phone call. I am pissed at the fact that I can’t trust my supervisors when I’m not around. We will defiantly discuss proper van operation during our meeting on Wednesday. This is the reason APS does not trust Auxiliaries with certain equipment. See you all on Wednesday.

Marisol Lisboa and Anthony Rentas, please contact me ASAP in regards to getting your prints done and reactivating you. We need some Motivated People around here.
