Two deputies killed, Two wounded in Louisiana. Please keep the families of our fallen and wounded brothers in your thoughts and prayers today. There is no such thing as a routine day in this line of work. The minute you start thinking that is the minute you need to find another line of work. It doesn't matter if you are on the job or auxiliary, we all wear the same uniform and take the same risks. Never forget that. Stay safe out there. Fidelis Ad Mortem...its not just a motto, it's our way of life.

P.O. GREEN RE: THE NEW CLASS
08-16-2012 9:21:58 AM EST
Just a quick update for those candidates for the next class. We are still waiting for the word to notify and start the next class. As per APS, everything is on hold until further notice. That is the only answer that I have for you. I have received multiple calls from candidates and when I give them the answer I get an attitude. My advice to them, WAKE UP! Do not call our office with demands. Do not call our office with an attitude. If you were waiting on a job, would you call the boss and give them an attitude? Probably not. Not a smart move and it says a lot about your character. For the candidates that have maintained a great attitude, IT WILL BE SOON. JUST HANG IN THERE.
P.O. GREEN Join the TEAM!

First, I would like to say hello to our Florida Highway Patrol brothers. I didn't forget about you. It has been nuts up here. I hope all is well and it is great hearing from you. I will be in Miami for the Jets game in September. Tell the boys to stay away, lol. Next, I would just like to comment on the energy of the unit. It is unreal lately. The positive energy is running through this units veins. The team is finally working together. Hours are being put in. If you have not been around, it is time for you to get on the team and get in the game. It is time! If you fell behind and you are not worried, worry! Where there is good, bad must follow. I have a list of members that will be handing in their shields to me unless they somehow make a huge comeback in the next few weeks. It's all about QUALITY not Quantity. I'd rather have 5 awesome cops than 100 that do not care and do not maintain the 12 hours required a month. 12 hours people! Speaking of quality, 4 transfers have finally come through from the MTS. They get their new starts today. WELCOME TRANSFERS! The unit is changing. The MOTIVATION IS RUNNING HIGH. THE DEDICATION IS APPARENT. THE PRIDE IS OUT OF CONTROL. THE STANDARD CONTINUES TO GET SET. CTTF, let's set the example. Let's be that example. Do your hours. Make a difference in someones life. Let's go CTTF!

Halfway through the week and patrol is rockin!! If you are used to coming in the same days every week, may I suggest a change up? Every Sergeant has strengths they bring to the team and a wealth of information they freely share. I was lucky enough to work with 3 so far this week- A/Sgts Hilton, De Dier, and France. I won't summarize their leaderships styles, it's something that should be experienced directly. This week I also had the pleasure of working with several members of the unit this week - the insouciant APO Duong, my experienced doppleganger APO Thomas who made me a radio star (thank you!), fellow classmate and go-getter APO Cosme, passionate APO Stauber, the consummate gentleman APO Benton, and the joyously resilient APO Ventura. Tonight PO Green (yay! he's baaaaaaaaaack!!!) gave us a preview of the future of CTTF :-) TOTALLY EXCITED!! The CTTF Adventure continues!! See you all at the weekend details! Hoorah!!!!!!!!!!!

Great patrol tonight. I want to extend a special thanks to Hollywood, Sniper, APO Ventura & APO Benton. Going forward we will continue to turn out both Vans for patrol and be a visible presence throughout this city. I expect to see more and more of the Team in for patrol as well as details. Lets continue to set the standard!!!!!

Wow! It's been some time since I last checked this site and see I missed a lot. I would like to add my congratulations to Officer Green on his accomplishment of graduation and promotion with the U.S.Coast Guard. Your hard work and dedication will pay off for all members of the CTTF, as it is apparent that they are proud of you through the postings on this site. I also want to pass along my congratulations to Dave and Adam on their move to Colorado next month. I am positive that their leadership will be missed by the CTTF, and I appreciate the professionalism they showed to David and myself when we were there for APO Aleger's funeral. I truly believe that New York's loss will be Colorado's gain! Remember to give us a call if you ever get to Florida, stay safe and stay proud!! Jeff

I finally got to meet the OTHER A/PO Thomas. I'm very impressed. I also had the privilege of meeting A/PO Cosme. If the other rookies have the drive or morale that these two have, I can't wait to meet them. It's been hard to come in recently for me with the start of a new job, but I'm back in the game as of today. Fidelis Ad Mortem. Hoorah!

THANK YOU!! Words cannot express how grateful I am. This unit motivates all of its members to unleash their inner Rough Rider. No such thing as a glass ceiling here! Race, creed, gender, orientation, etc is ignored as long as you have HEART. Thank you to everyone for the messages I've received today, for all of your support through training, and for the guidance I've received out on patrol. Hoorah!!
I will really miss A/Lt. Dave Lewis. Lieutenant, you are someone I have looked up to since I started and you probably don't even know how much of an impact you've had here - from vets to newbies. You are such a positive role model in so many ways. Hope you can visit soon. APO McKew, I am so glad I got to see you receive your award before you go and had the chance to talk to you. I'm amazed by the work you have done and how you have balanced that with service to your community. Looking forward to the party which will not be a sad ending, but a celebration of both of your legacies here. Qapla!

BECOME A GAME CHANGER. DON'T SIT BACK AND HOPE THAT IT WILL CHANGE. CHANGE IT FOR THE BETTER, NO MATTER HOW TOUGH THAT MAY BE AT TIMES!
LOVE IT!!! That shows Huge MARBLES
08-14-2012 12:57:06 PM EST
Now that shows some huge marbles. Go right for them and get in their faces. We should band together and be proud of who we are and what this unit has become. We should not back down from the naysayers! WE SET THE STANDARD! YES, WE SET THE STANDARD! Let them all follow! We will lead the charge ROUGH RIDERS.
DON'T LIKE US? TOO BAD
08-14-2012 12:44:53 PM EST
I have been hearing lots of things that many other units have been saying. They do not have to like us but they will respect us. We are just doing our jobs. We have the energy that others lack. Remember that next time you hear someone say something against our unit. Smile! They are just suffering from JEALOUSY! It is a sickness. Walk away knowing that we are doing our jobs. If you want, tell them not to worry, we will create a 5K in their honor. "THE ANNUAL WALK FOR JEALOUSY! LOL! KEEP IT UP CTTF!!!

AS STATED BY PO GREEN THE JULY HOURS WERE EXTREMELY DIS TASTEFUL. We understand that it is summer and people do go on vacations and want to spend time with their families. However, with that said you still have a job to do. You joined this program knowing what is required of you and many of you have not been pulling your own weight. You know who are. If you are not sure what your hours are like ask yourself when was the last time I went on patrol or worked a detail. If the first words out of your mouth are "uhhh" then you probably haven't been doing what you need to do. There are two details this weekend and it is time to start kicking back into gear. The last thing we wont is to lose our elite status we have fought so hard for.
08-14-2012 11:19:09 AM EST
FIRST LET ME SAY A HUGE CONGRATS TO THE MEMBER OF THE MONTH "SNIPER". I MUST SAY THAT I HAVENT SEEN SUCH A DEDICATED PERSON TO THIS PROGRAM SINCE MEETING PO GREEN. SHE IS AN INSPIRATION AND A DEFINITE PLUS TO OUR UNIT. IF YOU DONT KNOW HER...GET TO KNOW HER. I WAS EXTREMELY IMPRESSED LAST NIGHT DURING THE SEARCH IN THE CONFINES OF MTN FOR THE TWO MISSING KIDS. CONGRATS KAREN YOU DESERVE IT.
MY POST IS ALREADY LONG BUT I MUST ACKNOWLEDGE A/LT LEWIS AND A/PO MCKEW. I FOR ONE WILL MISS YOU BOTH TREMENDOUSLY. EVER SINCE I CAME INTO THIS UNIT BOTH OF YOU HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT A POSITIVE FORCE. I AM EXTREMELY SAD TO SEE YOU GO BUT I AM ALSO VERY HAPPY FOR ADAM AND WISH HIM NOTHING BUT GOOD LUCK IN HIS CAREER.

HEY ROUGH RIDERS: The hours for the month of July were embarassing! We need to get back in the game. I understand why the hours dropped but that issue is no longer an excuse. Let's get back tgo doing what we do. Today would be a great day to turn out an awesome crew. The city is busy and it always helps to have some extra eyes and ears out there. Just last night, Diva and Sniper assisted in a 4 hour search for a 10yr old and a 9yr old. The MTN was very happy to have them helping out. We need to get more involved. Remeber why you got involved in this program to begin with. LET'S GO CTTF!!! MOTIVATED, DEDICATED, PROUD! SETTING THE STANDARD!

Congratulations A/P.O. Thomas aka ‘Sniper’ on member of the month! For those of you who do not know her simply means you haven’t been in!! She is a wonderful addition to this unit, a model officer of this department and this program KEEP IT UP!!! A/LT Lewis & A/P.O. McKew – we are sad to see you go. You both have attributed to shaping this unit and it would not be what it is without you two. (There’s time to flatter you both later on but for the moment this needs to remain brief.) On that note; suggestions for a goodbye party (i.e. venue, date time etc.) would be greatly appreciated and can be submitted to email@example.com Furthermore FOR TODAY ONLY there will be a last chance opportunity to purchase a Rough Riders shirt. Orders/Money must be submitted by no later than 2200 hours TONIGHT! FIDELIS AD MORTEM!!!!

To my Brothers DAVE LEWIS and ADAM McKEW, and I address you fraternally as Union Brothers rather than by rank to avoid overstepping my bounds as an Auxiliary supervisor in another command. First, congratulations to Adam on his position at Denver Metro. Though our acquaintance has been minimal, I feel sure it must be both a position that needs your skills and dedication and one that will contribute substantially to your own professional development. I think this must be the case for you and Dave to be willing to leave the greatest city in the world, the best police department of its size, and an Auxiliary unit that you both appear to have played a significant role in building into very clearly one of the best in that department. While I'm just an observer from outside the unit, my observational skills have been honed by more than a few years of ''observing and reporting,'' and they tell me that POs Green and Navarro, A/Capt. Quinones, and the other members of CTTF are probably already shedding tears over losing you. As an outsider, none of that is really for me to say. But the following IS for me to say. I believe that my Brother DAVE LEWIS fairly mastered, I say again, MASTERED, the difficult task of serving as an EXCELLENT union delegate at the same time he has served as Executive Officer of the command he's represented. No small feat, as the XO's significant responsibility for discipline and performance has at least the potential to be at odds with the delegate's role in protecting the rights of union members. I believe Dave's superior intellect, many skills and sense of fairness made his mastery of the dual roles possible. Most of all, though, I'm going to miss Dave as colleague among union delegates. We've worked together on union matters with the potential to benefit not only the union members in our respective commands, but APs throughout the city. In any such battles there are few people I can think of who I'd rather have at my side. While I speak only for myself as Dave's fellow delegate, my long experience with the union's administration tells me that, all the way to the top, his leadership within the Delegate Assembly will also be missed. But APBA members don't have to miss calling Dave and Adam ''Brother.'' Membership in the APBA continues for former APs who choose it. Dave and Adam, you will continue to have Brothers and Sisters not only within CTTF, but throughout the program. You're NYPD, and you're Union. Fidelis Ad Mortem.
