First time doing a parade today! Would like to thank A/Cpt Quinones, PO Navarro, and A/Sgt France for taking good care of us and showing the newbies how to dominate a detail. Thanks to APO Van Der (yes I forgot the rest) and APO Tavares for putting the awesome in team, and to APO Cosme for making your first patrol a marathon Rough Riders epic adventure. It was a long day and lots of fun. Looking forward to the week ahead and the next parade.

Welcome back Officer Green! Sorry I couldn't make it to your graduation, though I'm glad we had a showing. I'm eager to hear about your time, and look forward to seeing some of the things you've learned being implemented here at CTTF. I broke a couple toes the other day, so I'm not sure when I will be making it in next, but I hope to see you and the rest of the team soon!

Ladies and Gents, We have a very busy next few weeks coming up. I actually bumped into the X.O. yesterday while I was out shopping. He wasn't pleased with the City Streets details. Next week is the last week. The lackluster response to these recent few weeks has been noticed and some questions are being asked if we still have what it takes to be the best. I will be back tomorrow and P.O. Navarro and myself will be having some in depth discussions on how to right ourselves after this surprising revelation. The unit will be going through some heavy changes in the next few weeks. There will be some movement. There will be some leadership changes. We will fill everyone in at the appropriate time. We will be putting a few meeting together. 1- Supervisors Meeting (a must) 2- A general body meeting of all members. I need your participation and cooperation. If we call a meeting, we need you there. I understand that you all have jobs, school, family, etc., but you have also taken on this responsibility and that comes with rules. If we call a mandatory meeting, you MUST show up. Tell your bosses that you have something to do that night. This has to get done. I do not like being approached in Walmart, off duty, on Military Leave and questioned about this unit in a negative way. WE WILL FIX THIS ISSUE! WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS! WE ARE THE CTTF AUXILIARY UNIT! THE ROUGH RIDERS!

Is there any possibility for a "welcome back" party in NYC to be held in P.O. Green's honor For those who missed ME 3 Green's graduation ceremony last Friday? Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I couldn't make the graduation. Welcome back to New York, P.O. Green, and I have your graduation present ready. Congratulations on receiving your petty officer commission in the USCG reserve!!

More TR history for APO Mystery

TR's charges up San Juan and Kettle Hills (same day, same battle, two different charges) on horseback were very brave, and very very reckless. He made a superb target atop his horse for the Spanish soldiers whose rifles were superior to those of the Americans, yet his only combat wound was a small scratch on the back of a hand from a shell fragment before the battle began. He rode while all other cavalrymen fought as infantry because his rank and influence enabled him to insist that room be made on the transport ship for his horse - lack of such room prevented other mounts from coming to Cuba. TR was well known for his bravado in the face of dangers of all types, but he may have chosen to make himself such a target on this day, however, in order to inspire the troops. They were somewhat demoralized at having lost many of their number to Yellow Fever before ever seeing combat and had also spent much grueling effort hacking through jungle on foot. TR's horseback leadership of the charge, therefore, interestingly parallels George Washington's actions at the Battle of Princeton. The Continental troops may not have realized they outnumbered the British by more than 3 to 1 and hesitated in the attack. Washington rode directly to front of his own line - to encourage them forward - to within 30 yards of the British (whose muskets were reasonably accurate up to 50 yards.) He personally gave the order to fire, and personally led the cavalry pursuit of the Redcoats who fled after the first Continental volley. Kindred spirit TR was an inspiring leader - and he inspired most of all his own son. Teddy Jr., wounded in both World Wars, was a bigger bona fide hero than his father. At 56 and arthritic from WWI injuries, TR JR was the only General and the oldest man to hit the Normandy beach with the first wave on D-Day, and he did that with the aid of a cane. While Gen. T. Roosevelt Jr. commanded the landing on Utah Beach, HIS son, Capt. Q. Roosevelt II was in the first wave on Omaha Beach. Old Teddy taught 'em well. Be very proud if you can live up to the name Rough Riders. Fidelis Ad Mortem.

I just wanted to Thank all of the members of the CTTF Auxiliary Unit that made the trip to Cape May, NJ for my Promotion/Graduation to Petty Officer 3rd Class in the United States Coast Guard. Having you there gave me a great feeling of support and love. It made me proud to see those uniforms in the crowd. I would also like to thank all of you that have posted on the site and texted me in regards to the graduation. I would also like to acknowledge those who sent me letters and gifts while I was in boot camp. You helped me make it through some tough days. THANK YOU ALL. All of you make this unit what it is. This is a family and you proved it once again. You make me very proud to be your Coordinator. Fidelis Ad Mortem.

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK IN NY. I am pleased to be back home. The DEPOT program of the United States Coast Guard was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned a lot and I will be implementing some of the Coast Guard's management and leadership ideas to the CTTF Auxiliary Units daily operations in an attempt to better our already sensational unit and completely set the standard for this awesome program. I look forward to putting on the NYPD Blues again. I hope to see my team out there ready to work. It's time to put this thing into overdrive!!!! Let's do it Rough Riders. Hooooorah!

It was truly inspiring to hear Petty Officer Green's speech today at his graduation. The overall experience was moving. Congratulations to the entire graduating class! We are all so proud to see our coordinator recognized as the stand-out leader in a group of stellar individuals from around the nation. Thank you A/Lt. Lewis for organizing this trip for us and to A/Sgt. France for supervising the evening festivities. It was great seeing the welcoming faces of APO Perugini and APO De Boer :-) when we arrived at the ceremony. Thank you to APO Morgan, APO Senra, and APO D-Something for being enthusiastic participants in an event I will always remember.

(this is just foward email.) read it if you like. REMA member Tony Mangiaracina (Ret Det. CSU - ESS 6& ESS 1) is undergoing surgery this morning at Staten Island University Hospital for removal of tumors in the brain. He has been diagnosed with several grave illnesses connected with his presence at the WTC. He had expressed a wish for visitors and, hopefully, he will be able to receive visits from his former pals in ESU. I will report his condition as I get updates. For the present, I am asking everyone to include Tony and his family in their prayers. I feel confident that with the Lord in his corner, Tony will be able to put up the best fight he can.

I just heard historian Doris Kearns Goodwin tell the story of TR moving from the rear of the slowly marching infantry and maneuver the Rough Riders to the front charge. He led fight as the only American on horseback in the face of Spanish guns.
