Hey gang. I spoke to PO Green about the t shirts. A friend of mine is in the business and can help us out.. before I get accurate pricing, I need to get a head count of who is down to purchase a t shirt. It would be less than $10/Person. So, whose in?

Theodore Roosevelt was an astonishingly multi-talented person in which very few could even aspire to achieve. While TR left his legacy as NYC Police Commissioner and Governor of New York State in the late 1890's: His initial calling as a Law Enforcement Officer was as a Deputy sheriff in Billings County,MT in 1886. According to the CorrectionHistory.org website; Deputy Roosevelt pursued three thieves who stole a boat off his property over treacherous, hostile territory. Consequently, Police Officer Roosevelt apprehended and arrested the trio. Roosevelt in his writings later lamented that he had to combine the functions of the office of sheriff with those of an arctic explorer in capturing the thieves. These early life's experiences helped shape the character of TR as a courageous and determined leader of men.

Just as an FYI Everyone Marty was yet at another open enrollment tonight, looking for more recruits for our up coming class. We got at least another dozen out of tonight. i can tell you that out of the entire city PO Green was 1 out of 4 coordinators in attendance at the open enrollment. Since coming on board i don't think PO Green has missed one open enrollment. We are still a growing unit, even after 2 years. We should all help in finding new members for our program. So if you know anyone, please let us know. If you have a friend that wants to transfer from another command, please let us know!!

While Theodore Roosevelt’s exploits as commander of the Roughriders during the Spanish-American Civil War are well known.--His accomplishments as United States president has set forth the cornerstone of the social foundation in which we Americans live under today. As a social progressive, TR acted for the common good of the American public. Roosevelt believed in business regulation, the passage of the food and drug act, and conservation of our natural resources. It is through his insistence that we have national parks. As a world leader, Roosevelt negotiated for an end to the Russo-Japanese war (1906) which earned him the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1912, Roosevelt ran as a third party candidate for US president under the Progressive Party banner also known as the “Bull Moose Party“. The party’s platform included equal wages for women, a 40 hour work week, direct election of US senators, regulation of business, the registration of lobbyists on Capitol Hill, social security insurance benefits, workers’ compensation for work related injuries, and women’s suffrage. Although losing the election to Woodrow Wilson, Roosevelt did come in second place gathering 27% of the popular vote to incumbent President Howard Taft [23% of the popular vote] who placed third. In 1920, Theodore Roosevelt was considered to be the leading contender for the Republican nomination as US president. However; he died from heart failure before the convention could be convened. Had he lived, Roosevelt most likely would have been elected and served a third term of office.

Rough Riders, The diplay of professionalism that you all showed yesterday was AWESOME to watch. We say the word awesome all the time, but we really do not use it properly. THAT WAS AWESOME!!! Inspector Byrne made many complimemts about the way you all looked. You may not have known it but she was watching all of you as you exited the van and walked into the detail. She was impressed as well as everyone the was standing on E70st. Not only did you walk in as a team, but then you turned out and worked your butts off in many heavy intersections along the route. This team was requested to bounce around from post to post as per the Inspector and the Chief. That does not happen in this program unless you work for the CTTF. You prove yourselves again and again. You work hard and make a difference. The Team that was out there yesterday lifted this unit back up after that disgraceful showing last week. Today, we wake up back on top. Let's stay there!!! GO ROUGH RIDERS!!! HOORAH!!!

While many U.S. Presidents saw military service, and a few received decorations, Theodore Roosevelt (New York City's TR, the NYPD's TR) was the ONLY U.S. President awarded the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest decoration for military service.

I had the pleasure of seeing the CTTF first hand today. I was very impressed by the units entrance to the detail. Very disciplined and very professional. I found the Units coordinator (P.O. Green) to be very funny and very military. A lot of the Auxiliaries were talking about all of you as you walked in. It was a very impressive showing with 20 people. At least that's what I counted. All I can say is, awesome. Not to mention, a very handsome group of men.

Theodore Roosevelt may have died in his sleep without a fight, but he certainly defied what others might call common sense in 1912. From Wikipedia: "While Roosevelt was campaigning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1912, a saloonkeeper named John Schrank shot him, but the bullet lodged in his chest only after penetrating his steel eyeglass case and passing through a thick (50 pages) single-folded copy of the speech he was carrying in his jacket. Roosevelt, as an experienced hunter and anatomist, correctly concluded that since he was not coughing blood, the bullet had not completely penetrated the chest wall to his lung, and so declined suggestions he go to the hospital immediately. Instead, he delivered his scheduled speech with blood seeping into his shirt. He spoke for 90 minutes." And I say "bully!"
