I want to thank our CO A/Captain Quinones, the other supervisors and the APO's for the extra assistance the last 2 weeks. We are stepping in to help other precincts, work details, cope with tragedy on/off duty, assist with initiatives and maintain our off duty professions. It is nice to know that our members have each others backs and step in to assist each other as needed. KEEP IT UP!!!

I have been hearing a lot about the CTTF Auxiliary unit from many different sources. To be honest, I did not believe the hype until I saw some of you at A/PO Aleger's funeral. The CTTF unit stood out from the rest. Some may see that as anti-social and arrogant. I saw it as disciplined. The coordinator seems like a Drill Sergeant but that is a good thing. As a former military man, I appreciate the way that the CTTF Auxiliary unit presents themselves. I was very impressed. Congrats on your success.

A veteran firefighter died of an apparent heart attack while battling a Brooklyn blaze Monday afternoon, fire officials said. Lt. Richard Nappi, a 47-year-old father of two, was supervising a crew training a hose on a two-story warehouse at 930 Flushing Ave. in Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood when he felt dizzy and called for help, New York City Fire Commissioner Sal Cassano said. As he was placed in an ambulance, it appeared his condition wasn't serious. "Paramedics were working on Lt. Nappi and speaking to him the whole time when he experienced a cardiac event," Mr. Cassano said. Lt. Nappi, of Farmingville, N.Y., was taken to Woodhull Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just after 3:30 p.m. His death marks the first firefighter fatality in the line of duty at an active scene since 47-year-old Paul Warhola suffered a stroke in August 2009. "He was an extraordinary firefighter and an extraordinary fire officer," Mr. Cassano said of Lt. Nappi, whom he knew as "Richie" since they served together in Manhattan. "He was a leader that people would follow," Mr. Cassano added. "He was dedicated, he was brave, he was committed to the fire service."

Just wanted to say a huge "Thank You!" to the members of your Unit for making us feel so very welcome during our visit for Auxiliary Officer Aleger's funeral. Although tragic, it was our our pleasure to stand side-by-side with New York's finest and honor the memory of Officer Aleger. We gained a wealth of knowledge about the history of the NYPD Auxiliary, the 23rd Precinct, and especially the CTTF Unit and members. As volunteers we sometimes don't realize the impact that we have on the people we serve or the agency we represent, but David and myself were very proud to represent the State of Florida and the members of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary. To P.O. Martin Green, A/Lt. Dave Lewis, and all the members we met we want to express our sincere thanks for the hospitality you extended to David and myself. It truly was a trip I never will forget, and certainly a highlight of my 29 year career with FHPA. Remember to contact either of us if you are ever able to visit the Central Florida area, as we would love to repay the favor and show you around our home town. Stay strong, be safe, and remember that you only get "out" what you are willing to put "in"! Forever brothers in law enforcement... A/Major Jeff Peeler, FHPA Troop K Orlando

Haven't checked the board for a couple days, I have a lot to say but for now I just need to know this. If I can make it for the funeral, the earliest time I can be at Grand Central is 7:45 (at CTTF around 8). I don't want to hold up a group, so any suggestions? Post here or text me at 203-434-3215 any time. Much love to you all.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Tomorrow we honor a fallen brother, who was shot by a coward. We will honor our fallen with a show of force in our numbers to assure that he is not forgotten. Some of us are not able to make it. I am out of town for work, but I wish i could be there. Those of you in NYC please try your best to attend. It is quite a sight to be seen a sea of blue. Hopefully this is not a normal occurrence. All Auxiliaries must be present at the chuch by 0830 hours. I believe the vans are leaving CTTF at 0730 hours. Please go if you can attend and please dress your best as a sign of respect. God Bless

To ALL members: For those of you who have taken notice, I post very sporadically. I guess April is the month of transition as I have learned this morning my next door neighbor from growing up, a friend none the less, mother passed away this morning. She had only witnessed her older son graduate college, yet not her younger daughter. Let alone watch her children get married and watch her grandchildren grow up. Though sudden and tragic, as many of you know Sonya has also dealt with death this week. Furthermore the officer’s family who was gunned down last week off duty in which I am attending his funeral tomorrow; I am writing specifically tonight to ask EACH and EVERY single one of you to “dig deep”. Luckily both of my parents, sibling, and both sets of grandparents are still alive to this day. Those and my close friends I consider my primary family, as they are (for the most part) by blood. I did not know Officer Aleger or his family personally however let it be recognized, he was still a brother of the shield. Of OUR department!! Take a moment and reflect on the tragedy. Visualize the horror, sadness and anger your family would endure if that was you. Then imagine for a moment ‘what if that had been you?’ There is no greater fear. Imagine how different your ‘family’ would feel if 100 officers showed up in consolation. You will spend on average approximately 332,880 days on this earth. If this 1 day out of roughly 333k days in your life - you do not think is worth pledging, then call me or e-mail me/one of the supervisors or one of our distinguished coordinators and turn in your shield and ID in confidence. Attending tomorrow’s detail will most likely be ungodly. But oh how important, how substantial and momentous of an impact your attendance will make. Not just for your own self-pride, but for the family, for the public, for this unit and for this department; it is imperative each and every one of you participate. We should be turning out 7 vans tomorrow, no less. Here is my cell phone number in-case some of you are unable to exhibit recognition over your own narcissism, and wish to turn in your shield.
