Officers Are Advised to Look Out for ‘Bottle Bombs’
By AL BAKER
The “safety alert” went out Tuesday to all 76 police precincts in New York City from the chief of department’s office.
In urgent tones, it warned officers to look out for “chemical reaction explosive devices made in plastic containers,” saying that police officers around the city had encountered a number of the improvised devices of late.
“These devices, sometimes called ‘Drano bombs’ or ‘bottle bombs,’ are exploded by mixing readily available household products in plastic containers,” the message said.
When the devices explode, people can be injured by shrapnel from the broken container or suffer burns from the caustic materials inside.
The orders from the chief of department’s office said that the seven-paragraph warning was to be read at 10 consecutive roll calls at each station house – to be sure everyone was advised.
In one section, the memo outlined the science behind the bottle bombs. Essentially, placing the household solutions into a bottle and sealing it causes pressure to build up that shatters the container.
Officers who encounter such devices are instructed not to touch it or move it, but to evacuate officers and others “to a safer place” and contact a supervisor and the Emergency Service Unit.
Stay Alert and Stay safe out there guys.

What is going on? Some of you need to grow up. What the Hell did you do to PO Green he is not a happy camper. The unnecessary bullsh##t postings must stop. The message board is for important information, its not Face book folks. I still believe our unit is the best in the city but we need some tightening up. Remember that this is a paramilitary organization so Officer Green and I do not appreciate when we are called by our first name. On details all higher ranking officers will be saluted that includes your coordinators. Officer Green and I hold you to a higher standard so act accordingly. I suggest that you all attend the General Body Meeting 5/1/12 at 2000 hrs. As PO Green stated NO EXCUSES!! FIDELIS AD MORTEM!!!

FROM NOW ON, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE, YOU COME INTO MY OFFICE AND WE DEAL WITH IT. NONE OF YOU WILL THROW THIS UNIT OFF TRACK. YOUR BS POSTS WILL NOW BE ERASED AND YOU WILL ALL BE TREATED AS AUXILIARIES IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT. YOU WANT TO BE OFFICERS? ACT LIKE IT!!!! ANYONE WHO WANTS A SHOT AT ME, COME ON IN!!!! I'M WAITING. I HAVE GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR THIS UNIT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY THAT IT IS RUN, TRANSFER OUT!!!!! NOW, THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE TRUE PROFESSIONALS, KEEP IT UP!!! If any of you were actually paying attention, one of our members was in need of our support last night and even still today. I texted many of you yesterday and only 4 members responded. Now I look on this board, I know that you are reading what is on here, and you all choose to ignore the serious posts and continue the Zhou Zhou crap. GROW UP!!!!!! GET SERIOUS!!!!!

Sonya sorry for your loss, I did not intend to post so late but I just found out what happened to your friend. If you need anything don’t hesitate to call me. We are your family. My prayers go out to you and his family. Your friend was a brother of the shield as he was a firefighter. He was a hero and no one shall forget that. (Fidelis ad Mortem)

It is always a sad day when a member of our family is lost. From all the postings, I see many of our members have experienced this type of pain. Let us lean on each other for support until we can stand on our own again. It has been a painful year for me as My Aunt and Cousin both took their lives. I know that it nay be too soon for you Sonya but I am encouraging ALL CTTF members to attend the funeral this Saturday. One of our Brother's has been murdered and we need to show the family we are here to support them.

The Blue represents the officer and the courage they find deep inside when faced with insurmountable odds.
The Black background was designed as a constant reminder of our fallen brother and sister officers.
The Line, the line is what police officers protect, the barrier between anomie and a civilized society, between order and chaos, between respect for decency and lawlessness.
Together they symbolize the camaraderie law enforcement officers all share, a brotherhood like no other.
This is who we are. This is what we all do. Back eachother up on and off the job. Believe me Troops, it sounds cult like but it is us vs. them. We are a different breed of people. Fidelis Ad Mortem

It would be a blatant lie to say that I do not understand your loss. I don't know how else to convey my deepest regrets. Not because I cannot relate, but because I know what the shock feels like. I know what the anger feels like. Every day I open my eyes to what seems surreal. Sometimes I daydream about what it would be like if I just woke up at the age of 10 again. 4 years ago (April 2008), I flew down to Miami for spring break with my two best friends whom I grew up with, Jerry and CJ. Less than 36 hours upon our return to New York CJ was killed in a car accident; his girlfriend who was in the passenger seat lived. I remembered going to his mother’s house shortly after like it was a bad dream. Screaming while sitting in my car, flabbergasted at how cruel it was that his life was taken so young. The wake and funeral were an utter blur. Exactly one year later (April 2009), Jerry was driving on a back road in Northern Westchester when he too had been involved in a car accident where tragically he was pronounced dead on the scene shortly thereafter. I was a pissed - straight up. I hadn’t shed a tear. And you might be saying in your head right now (or most likely out loud knowing you), “why is he telling me this? This isn’t f***ing helping…f***ing a-hole” I am sharing this very personal piece of my past with you because I want to instill courage if nothing else. I can say with great confidence having met you I KNOW you will make it through this. Unfortunately the only way I know how to convey my compassion is to be truthful and tell you that you will not ever fully get past it. Cliché I know, but everything happens for a reason. You will never make any sense out of that last statement but in due time you will find that this tragic event will in turn make you a stronger person for what the future may hold. Even at 1:45am on a Tuesday night when I have to get up for work in less than 4 hours, I hope you understand the level of dedication and support you have from everyone here at the department. Though you are currently losing our bet at this time …I still have considerable expectations for you to redeem yourself kick my ass sometime in the near future ;-) Stay safe and keep looking forward.

I understand your loss, My Prayers go out for Rob, you and his family. I am no stranger to loss, Dad past away when I was 16 and my mom when I was 21 and I have lost some good friends on 9/11. Too many, before their time!!! I've learned a few valuable lessons in those dark times,
1) To live in hearts we leave behind Is not to die.
2) We honor the memory of our loved ones by carrying on their legacy.
3) Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either.
I know the best thing I can do for my lost loved ones is to just become a better stronger person and speak about them in kind when I get the chance, Laugh at the great memories when I think about it and make sure that no one ever forgets who they were, because as long as I am still around I will never forget so therefore they will never be forgotten. I hope that helps. God Bless!!!!

I just want to say, THANK YOU! thank you guys!!! I have lost a best friend! the world has lost a great person, a great MAN. a volunteer firefighter..I am not me right now, im pretty much just a body.. but from the texts i have gotten today, you have all kept me going. YOU ARE MY FAMILY! From the bottom of my heart i thank you.

Sonya, we're all here for you. Like a family, we joke, we play, but we look out for each other when we need to.
Rob Priest, if you all didn't know was a volunteer Firefighter, which is relatable to what we all do. A young guy, who had chosen to help people.
Sonya, remember that there isn't always a reason things happen, but there is a reason why we had people in our lives. Keeping his memory alive is the best you can do to pay him back for his friendship.

One of our team members lost a really close friend tonight. Officer Sonya Senra had to say her final goodbye to a very young man whose time was short on this earth. Productive apparently but short. I ask you all to pray that she is able to deal with the pain that she is dealing with tonight and I ask you all to pray for Rob Preist's family as they cope with their loss. I am not a very religious guy. I do stupid things sometimes but I do know that we as Police Officers are a different breed. We have a special reason for living. We have a special calling. We are very important people to many onlookers that need us and respect us. We are the answer to many questions and many problems. Officer Senra needs us right now. She is hurting. I ask you all to pray for her no matter who you pray to. She is our sister and we love her. We might not all agree with each other but I know that we are a family that helps and has compassion for each other. A team member is down. Let's bring her up. I love you all. God bless and Fidelis ad Mortem!!!!!

To just add to my last post, We are proud to welcome 2 of our Brothers from The Florida State Highway Patrol Auxiliary. Trooper David Farrell and Major Jeff Peeler will be joining us at Officer Alegers funeral. It is our pleasure to host you both. We are looking forward to meeting you and going out on Friday night. Major Peeler was able to find our website online and was blown away by this unit. He submitted a request to join us at Officer Alegers funeral and thankfully The Florida State Highway Patrol gave him the OK. He then called me for the Ok, go in touch with the APBA and A/Lt. Lewis. I thank the APBA and A/Lt. Lewis for taking care of our brothers and setting them up. We all thank them for supporting us. We will be taking our brothers out on Friday night if any of you are interested. God Bless all of you!!! Fidelis Ad Mortem!!!!!!!!
