This is more than camaraderie. These are full-time MOS saluting fallen Aux MOS. This is what we did today.

Hoorah! For Marty.
03-04-2012 10:18:07 PM EST
Those who showed up today showed up in style, class, and were stared at by the other commands. I was asked what the patch meant, which points out that we're THE unit that is talked about.
Those that didn't, you missed out. It was a humbling ceremony that honors our fallen officers. God forbid, but that could be any one of us. We put our lives on the line, and to know that it may not be honored by our BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN BLUE sucks. It is our responsibility to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. If you had a valid reason to not show up, that's cool. If you had work or prior plans that you couldn't get out of, that's cool. If something unexpected occurred, that's cool. If you just didn't care, that's NOT cool. And for those who fall in this last category, y'all are messed up.
Citywide Traffic Task FORCE???
03-04-2012 10:05:30 PM EST
This unit is supposedly the "elite" unit. The trend setter. The admired. The "one with the horse patch." The one that's getting attention from the brass. This unit is the Citywide Traffic Task Force. But the word "FORCE" is obviously used very loosely, because today, there was no show of FORCE in numbers from our command.
I feel that we need to remember the other units with the coordinators that don't CARE. The coordinators that make the program an unbearable environment. The coordinators that end up losing their members to "ACTIVE" units like ours. Recently, we had two transfers from a very nearby command, and we take for granted that we have two very dedicated coordinators.
ON THEIR DAYS OFF, such as today they come in. If you were at today's memorial, you would've seen other units WITHOUT their coordinators. And that's okay, if they couldn't make it, but you have to give credit when people like PO Green and PO Navarro go the extra mile. GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE. GIVE RESPECT WHERE IT IS DUE. Green and Navarro ALSO have personal lives, WIVES, KIDS, BILLS TO PAY. But they chose to spend their Sunday honoring the fallen AUXILIARY POLICE MEMBERS.
You complain that we don't have enough cars? How do you expect APS to take that complaint seriously if they only see 15 people show up for a ceremony that honors us? This wasn't a detail that we were "working" The regular cops were "working" it. We were being honored.
If you said you would come, and you CHOSE TO NOT COME, then you really screwed up. When your name is on a list of people expected to show up, it means that additional vans are borrowed, it means paperwork, it means high expectations, and a lot more. If you don't want to contribute, then don't, but stop wasting the time of our coordinators, our supervisors and all the Auxiliary COPS, and just stop coming altogether.
This is a volunteer program, and there is no paycheck, but it is an honor to serve the city. The program, the department, and the city have expectations of this JOB. Yes, it is a job--a part-time job. Voluntary, yes, but still a job. We go out there, take necessary precautions, have fun, but we serve a vital function. And if you don't care to do it, then you don't deserve to carry around a shield and ID.
You complain that you don't get respect? That some of the regulars (many from the old school) don't appreciate or respect auxiliary COPS? That your efforts go unnoticed? GUESS WHAT?--YOU GOTTA EARN RESPECT.
"The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear." - Socrates
You want to appear ELITE? BE FREAKING ELITE.
I have news for you folks. Strength doesn't always exist in numbers. Quality outweighs quantity, and you don't make the cut. Stop. Wasting. Our. Time.

As a recent transfer to CTTF, I've never been more impressed and motivated by Officers Green and Navarro in my six years as an APO. My only regret is that I did 't transfer a year ago when I first met them.
I attended today's Memorial Service and was asked by several APOs about CTTF and the unit's role. I may even have started one more APO transfer to CTTF today.
There is something very special about Auxiliary CTTF and the two fantastic coordinators who run it. For us, failure is not an option. I look forward to many more unit and citywide details with both Officers Green and Navarro leading us at the front.
Let's all move forward, together, one step at time time. And never fall back.

today was a very god damn special day for the NYPD AUXILIARY and for you people who lied and told Marty you were coming in really F&$Ked up... really why tell him your gonna come and you dont show up what the hell most of yall HAVE TO GIVE IN YOUR SHIELD AND ID dont waste our time trying to do something your not into GET OUT OF THE UNIT AND LETS BRING IN THE GOOD OUT WITH THE FAKE!!!!!!!!
03-04-2012 9:01:24 PM EST
For those that committed to coming in for the memorial and could not make it, you owe PO Green and PO Navarro better than a sorry. These guys put themselves out there on our behalf, far more than a coordinator has to and well above what I have seen from others in the past. I think some members of the unit need to remember that. Many of us know it and are HUGELY APPRECIATIVE OF THEM!!!!
This is a volunteer program in that you are donating your time, but make no mistake, when you accept that shield and ID, and you take that uniform, you have made a commitment to be contributor on this team. We all have our lives, but we have chosen to involve ourselves in this program, and this program expects you to be there, not just when its convenient. Parade season is coming, its time to put up or shut up.

Be advised, if you are not active in this unit you will loose the honor to hold onto your shield and ID. If you do not meet the hours you will be dropped. Some members show a huge lack of respect for this unit. First, we had a poor turnout for training that is set up for us to stay alive. Second, many members were absent from a memorial service for our fallen. If you did not have a valid reason for not attending these events SHAME on you! Some of us are CTTF...the others will be let go.

On March 14, it will be 5 years since 2 of your fellow officers were assassinated, Shot in the head by a crazy piece of garbage!!!! Their families sat at the memorial today as they have since that dreadful day!!! They earned the right to get respect from all of you. The APO's earned that right!!! They were just like you. They came in, joked around with their fellow members, their coordinator, then turned out. They walked down the street and stubbled on a homicide in progress. They stood tall, called it in and got killed for their efforts! Their street clothing were left In their lockers and they are probably still there! Think about that!!! Think!!!! Damn it! You guys have pissed me off!!! Their coordinator shows up everyday, a reck! Of course she does! She cared about them. The same way I love and care about all of you. Show some freaking respect! I would take a bullet for all of you!!!!! Get with the lifestyle or leave!!! I hav no room for posers in this unit!!!!

Ladies and Gents, I have gone above and beyond what my job description intails because I want you all to enjoy and getting something out of volunteering for this job. I am very unhappy with the lack of participation for the Interfaith Memorial. I have been very unhappy lately with the hours of our members and for those reasons, I will be looking to leave this unit ASAP! I put my heart into this unit but I don't get the respect that has been earned. The bottom line is that, many people in this unit are obviously abusing the program. They are walking around with an NYPD shield and ID. They are full of crap! Those of you carrying these shields and ID's have a responsibility! You have the responsibility to make a difference in the world! Not your own world! Someone else's. Shame on you if you choose to use this program to brag about yourself! This is a team effort and anyone not being a part of this team will be terminated from this program! I promise that! I have said it in the past and I say it again, it is an honor to wear that uniform, shield and patch! Screw you, if you don't agree! I am pissed off and I will not tolerate the lack of respect that you exhume by not showing up at a detail to honor dead Auxiliary members. Disgraceful! If you are offended by my post, sue me!!!!! Disgusting!!!!!!!!

Rule number 1 as a supervisor is to never reprimand a subordinate in front of his/her peers. That being said, I just want to make a general statement. If someone was to leave their uniform shirt at the one cleaners that closes on the weekend........... that person should probably look at the picture that I posted with this message and do exactly what it says!!!!! Everyone had more than enough time to prepare uniforms for this event. It would be an extremely disrespectful move not to show up prepared. Members who have passed on, members killed in the line of duty and members suffering life threatening illness are being honored!!!! SHAME ON YOU, IF YOU CAN'T REACH OUT AND GET A SHIRT FROM ANOTHER MEMBER!!!! PARAMILITARY ORGANIZATION!!! REMEMBER? THIS IS NOT ROMPER ROOM!!!!! Once again, this is not directed at any specific person. Just saying........... IMPROVISE, ADAPT, AND OVERCOME!!!!!! FIDELIS AD MORTEM!
