I received my Training Certification from Monadnock last week in Self Defense/Expandable Baton/Straight Baton. I am now able to certify the members of this unit in the expandable baton. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CARRY THE BATON AS A MEMBER OF THIS DEPARTMENT. We are still waiting to get that authorized by this jurisdiction. I want you all trained and ready to go, just in case we get the permission. I also want to review our self defense protocol with all of you in response to resent cases in the press. I am aware that all of your certifications are good until January but, I DO NOT CARE!!! I want this unit to train like no other. I want this unit to be the best. I want this unit to be safe!!! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TRAINING TOO MUCH!!! THIS IS A DANGEROUS JOB AND YOU MUST CONDITION YOUR MINDS TO RESPOND PROPERLY TO A THREAT. THROUGH CONDITIONING, WE WILL SAVE LIVES!!! Thank you, Det. Green, for your kind words after our detail tonight. We had no idea that we'd be going right into a major traffic jam in the "Crossroads Of the World." The crash made the lead story on ABC National Evening News. The trust we gained from the CTTF Brass was also appreciated. Of our two rookies, one was on her first patrol ever. A lesson to everyone: every tour, every patrol can make a difference. Whether you expect it or not. And no other Auxiliary Command offers this kind of opportunity.

I just wanted to commend the officers who turned out tonight. We had a bus accident with multiple injuries in the heart of Times Square. It was a pedestrian and traffic nightmare and the CTTF Auxiliary Unit responded just in time to help out at a very critical moment. Great Job by A/Sgt Wice, A/PO Pineda, A/PO Fernandez, A/PO Yakubova, A/PO Vera, and A/PO Luna. AWESOME JOB AND VERY PROFESSIONAL!!! I was able to take a moment to sit back and take in the work that was being performed by all of you. I am very proud to be the coordinator of such talent. THANK YOU! MOTIVATED, DEDICATED, PROUD. WE ARE THE CTTF!!!!
