DET. GREEN   ALL HANDS REQUEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
03-04-2014 3:31:44 PM EST

They arrived at their command. Went to their lockers and put on those blue uniforms. Looking in the mirror to make sure that they were squaured away, gave a little proud smile before filling out the 10. Signed a radio out and hit the streets. 2 proud officers doing a little foot patrol in one of the city's finest locations. Greenwich Village! They walked for a little, crossed some streets, then heard a job coming over the radio in regards to a possible 10-34 with a gun. A description of a perp followed. They were in the area...... they looked and sure enough, there was the perp. They immediately went to their training for help. POLICE DON'T MOVE! DROP THE BAG! WOW, he complied. He laid the bag down. They approached. HE TURNS AND PUNCHES ONE OF THEM IN THE FACE AND FLEES THE SCENE. Do they give up? NO. They pursue the gunman, keeping a close eye on him. But wait.............He turns back and begins firing......................They take cover..............He hunts one of them down, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!!!.....Then the other, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM........ Then he flees again, only to be confronted by the 6th pct responding units who GUN HIM DOWN. DO YOU HAVE THE CHILLS? I do. This is the true story of what happened to A/PO's Marshalik and Pekearo. On March 14th, 2007, Officers Marshalik and Pekearo were gunned down by a piece of trash. I AM REQUESTING ALL OF YOU TO ATTEND THIS YEARS ANNIVERSARY IN SUPPORT OF THEIR FAMILIES AND LOVED ONES AS WELL AS THEIR 6TH PCT TEAM. This could have been any one of you. Same patch, same uniform. Same pride and dedication. IT IS UP TO US TO HELP THE ENTIRE CITY REMEMBER WHAT THIS PROGRAM HAS DONE FOR THIS CITY AND THE SACRIFICES THAT IT'S MEMBERS HAVE MADE. LET'S GET OUT THERE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THEIR FAMILIES. 3/14/14 1700HRS. MOTIVATED, DEDICATED, PROUD. FIDELIS AD MORTEM!!!!! BTW, It is OK to cry! That is your PASSION running down your face. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

There's a big difference between managing and leading.Leadership is about by the decisions you make and the actions you take. Leadership is determined by action and example.

DET. GREEN   RE: RMP/VAN TRAINING
03-04-2014 2:14:42 PM EST

ATTENTION: I will be giving out rmp and van training according to your hours and your seniority. TRAINING IS EARNED! If you have a ton of hours, you will earn your spot. 12 hours a month is not going to cut it. I send the names to APS and the Commanding Officer makes the ultimate decision. After today, I wouldn't worry about getting training for a while.

I've got to go on a last minute out-of-town business trip and will not be in today. Please check back to see if a coordinator will be in later.

DET. GREEN   SOME ADVICE!
03-04-2014 11:01:01 AM EST

If you are scheduled for training, GOOOOOOOO! If you blow off any type of training, you are stealing a spot for others who actually care. Because of our absence today at Van training, I can guarantee that we will be penalized by APS and we will not see training until 2015. That's disgusting! We work very hard to earn those spots. This is a team effort! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! ITS NOT ABOUT YOU! ITS ABOUT THE TEAM!!!!!

At his Presidential inaugural address on this day in 1905, T.R. said: "... our life has called for the vigor and effort without which the manlier and hardier virtues wither away. Under such conditions it would be our own fault if we failed; and the success which we have had in the past, the success which we confidently believe the future will bring, should cause in us no feeling of vainglory, but rather a deep and abiding realization of all which life has offered us; a full acknowledgment of the responsibility which is ours; and a fixed determination to show that under a free government a mighty people can thrive best, alike as regards the things of the body and the things of the soul."

DET. GREEN   Anyone want van training?
03-04-2014 10:02:58 AM EST
This is important. I have a van spot open for today at 1000. The location for the training is Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn. We have a spot and if we do not fill it, future spots will be in jeopardy. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! NYS DRIVERS LICENSE IS REQUIRED!!!! IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, CALL ME IMMEDIATELY!

Auxiliary Officers Yevgeniy Marshalik and Pekearo were shot and killed while following a killer who had just murdered a pizza shop employee in Greenwich Village. The killer had entered the shop, asked for a menu, and then shot the employee in the back fifteen times after the man turned around. Auxiliary Officers Pekearo and Marshalik, both of whom were unarmed and on foot patrol in the area of the shooting, heard the description of the assailant that had been transmitted over the radio. They spotted him on the corner of Sullivan and Bleeker Streets. Both officers ordered the killer to drop a bag he was holding. The killer complied, but then punched Officer Marshalik in the face, knocking him to the ground. The killer fled on foot, with both officers in pursuit. Seeing that capture was imminent, the killer then drew a second firearm, and opened fire on the officers, who were on the opposite side of Sullivan Street. Officer Pekearo took cover behind a parked car, but the killer ran up behind him and shot him six times, killing him. The killer then fled again on foot, where he observed Officer Marshalik attempting to take cover. The killer approached Officer Marshalik and shot him once in the head, killing him. Responding Officers from the 6th Precinct opened fire on the killer, who again fled on foot into a store. He then exited the store and opened fire. He was shot and killed in the ensuing gun battle. The killer was found to be carrying two handguns and over 100 rounds of ammunition. Auxiliary Officer Marshalik had served with the New York City Police Department - Auxiliary Police Section for three years and was assigned to the 6th Precinct Auxiliary Police Unit; he had previously served with the United States Army.
